The coins at the edge of these clusters often have much more corrosion due to the salt water.  But many of the coins inside are as shiny and glistening as the day they left the mint, 30 years before George Washington was born.

After being underwater for over 250 years, the silver rupees were concreted together by coral and calcium deposits in the water.  This was once in a bag containing 1,000 rupees.  About 750 coins are in this cluster.
